We’re Interior Painting of Asheville, a small local team proudly serving Asheville and all of Buncombe County. We specialize in interior painting for residential homes. What began in 2020 with Andrew and Rachel Sheffield has grown into one of the most trusted names in residential painting in the mountains of Asheville. For nearly five years, we’ve built our reputation the simple way. Through honest work, clear communication, and craftsmanship, homeowners love. We’re grateful for every family that invites us into their home, and we look forward to serving our community for many years to come!

Rachel and Andrew got married in 2022, had their first child (Lucas) in 2023, and made 5 years in business together in August of 2025. Their story is a testament to how a simple idea, when executed at a high level, can produce significant results.

Andrew Sheffield (Co-Owner & Estimator)
"Hi! I am Andrew Sheffield! Let me tell you a bit about myself.
I moved from Houston, Texas to Asheville when I was nine years old, and I’ve pretty much been in love with these mountains ever since. Growing up here shaped me. I spent most of my childhood outside, hiking, exploring, and soaking up the slower pace of mountain life. After high school, I decided to pursue culinary arts and attended AB Tech’s culinary program. That path eventually took me to New Orleans, where I cooked on the line at Commander’s Palace. It was intense, challenging, and one of the best learning experiences of my life.
After almost a decade in the kitchen, I felt the pull to come back home. I moved back to Asheville and joined my dad in real estate, where we became a solid father-son team. Working with him taught me a lot about business, people, and what it really means to be self-employed. To support myself through real estate school, I started my own painting and handyman business, and it took off quickly. I earned my real estate license in 2015, but when the 2020 pandemic slowed the market down, I leaned back into my roots as a painter. That’s when Rachel and I decided to officially create Interior Painting of Asheville.
Today, as co-owner, I handle sales, estimating, accounting, HR, and business development. It’s a full plate, but I love what I do. Helping homeowners transform their spaces and being part of this community means everything to me.” — Andrew S.
Rachel Sheffield (Co-Owner, Color Consultant & Office Manager)
"Hi! I am Rachel Sheffield! Here is a bit about who I am.
I’m originally from New York, and in 2017 I packed up my life and moved to Asheville to step away from the pace of the city and reconnect with myself in the mountains. I’ve been a certified Bikram yoga instructor since 2007, and alongside teaching, I used to run my own online health-coaching business. I’ve always loved learning, so I earned a bachelor’s in Nutrition Sciences from UA in 2017, and before that, a bachelor’s in Marketing and Public Relations from NYU in 2005.
When the yoga studio I was teaching at closed during the 2020 pandemic, I suddenly had space to ask, “What’s next?” Even though my online business was still running, I saw an opportunity to put my marketing skills to work and help Andrew build something new. That’s how Interior Painting of Asheville really started to take shape. A blend of his craftsmanship and my passion for service, communication, and creating beautiful spaces.
Today, as co-owner, I handle our marketing, design consultations, back-office systems, and customer service. I’ve always believed in working with a servant’s heart, and starting a business from scratch definitely requires that. Helping homeowners feel seen, heard, and supported through every step of the process is a role I’m grateful to play every day.” — Rachel S.
